The Honda CL500 is the brand’s modern interpretation of a scrambler motorcycle. True to its styling, the CL500 features a raised two-to-one exhaust with a heat guard.
Its overall look wouldn’t be out of place in a Mad Max movie franchise.
Sharing its platform with the Rebel500, the CL500 is propelled by a 471cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve, parallel-twin engine mated to a 6-Speed manual transmission.
It produces a generous amount of grunt, churning out 33.8 kW and 43.3 Nm. The CL500 uses the same blacked-out diamond frame save for a minor subframe modification to raise the seat height to 790 mm.
Unlike the Rebel’s low-slung riding position, the CL500 affords the rider a more neutral posture for better leverage when making quick maneuvers to dodge zombies on the road.
The 41 mm front fork has 150 mm of travel and the dual shock absorbers at the rear are 5-way adjustable, so it is cable of taking on various terrain. This scramble from Honda not only looks the part, it plays the part too.
Riding during rush hour won’t be as bad because of the CL500’s slipper clutch and clutch assist function. Filter through the gridlock with ease as mindless drones of a different sort look on with envy.
What’s more, this bike is equipped with Honda’s Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), which activates the hazard lights to flash rapidly during emergency braking. Working together with the dual-channel ABS, this safety feature helps avoid getting rear-ended by making you more visible to other motorists.
The CL500 comes in Matte Laurel Green Metallic and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic with a price tag of ₱ 409,000.
