The current local motorcycle market trend seems to be leaning towards adventure bikes and this is quite apparent during the recently concluded Makina Moto Show.
Apart from roadsters and retros on exhibit, there was an abundance of big, off-road-capable bike models on display from different brands. In fact, a few adventure bike models even made their local debuts at the event.
Suzuki V-STROM 1050DE
The V-STROM 1050DE is powered by a 1,037cc liquid-cooled, V-twin engine that rides on a chassis with increased ground clearance. It accommodates a new 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke-style wheels with more aggressive Dunlop Adventure tires.
It has a longer rake and wheelbase for more control on gravel roads and dirt trails, a longer suspension stroke to better absorb bumps on rough surfaces, wide steel foot pegs and a large diameter tapered-aluminum handlebar.
The V-STROM 1050DE also features a new 5-inch color TFT LCD multi-function instrument panel that displays the expanded settings, including a new Gravel (G) mode to the Suzuki Traction Control System, and the ability to switch off the rear ABS.
Honda XL750 Transalp
Designed with the traits of simple, sleek, and tough in mind, the XL750 Transalp features a class-leading steel diamond body frame and a signature functional windscreen.
In terms of performance, it’s powered by a 755cc, liquid-cooled, 4-Stroke, OHC, 8-Valve Parallel-Twin with a 270° Crank and Unicam engine.
The XL750 Transalp runs on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tire set up and it features four default riding modes – Gravel, Sport, Standard and Rain. ABS and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) come as standard.
Honda Smartphone Voice Control system keeps you connected while you ride and full LED lighting features Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) technology to alert road users behind of sudden braking, like the one seen on the ADV160.
Powered by a 400cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, the Peugeot XP400 is an ideal ride for would-be adventure riders who are just about to get their feet wet. Having CVT means there’s no need to bother with shifting gears and the rider can concentrate on the terrain ahead.
The XP400 is fitted with 17-inch front and 15-inch rear wheels and it comes in two variants – the road-oriented Allure and the more rugged GT. The XP400 features a dashboard with a connected 5-inch TFT display offering turn-by-turn navigation thanks to i-Connect technology.
Equipped with a powerful 889 cc parallel-twin engine, the Norden 901 delivers 78 kW and 99 Nm of torque, ensuring that riders can easily tackle any terrain, whether on-road or off-road. It also features a six-speed transmission, an advanced fuel injection system, and a slipper clutch providing a smooth and precise riding experience.
The Norden 901’s updated ride modes – Street, Rain, Offroad, as well as the optional Explore Mode – instantly engage the best combinations of rider aids. Throttle response, traction control level, and peak power are all set-up differently with each mode.
Additionally, the Norden 901 offers maximum comfort to riders, thanks to its standard cruise control, adjustable windscreen, ergonomically designed height-adjustable two-piece seat, and aluminum tapered handlebar with six mounting positions.
