The recently concluded 2023 Makina Moto Show held at the SMX Convention Center registered 59,498 visitors.
To those who couldn’t care less about motorcycles, these kinds of trade shows might be seen as a big annoyance as they cause a scarcity of parking slots and massive traffic jams in the immediate area of the venue.
However, to those in the motorcycle industry, events like the Makina Moto Show are essential in the promotion of their products and services to a wider audience.
One-stop shop
Motorcycle buyers and would-be buyers won’t have to go to multiple dealerships to do their bike shopping.
That's because most current motorcycle options and newly launched models from different brands are on display in one venue. Customers could also take advantage of event discounts offered by participating dealers.
For example, Royal Enfield sold all its models at 15 percent off during the event.
Perfect launch pad for new models
While a good number of visitors come with cash in hand and are ready to buy a motorcycle, as shared with us by Honda Philippines, others can just drop by and ogle at the hottest models of both the two-wheeled and two-legged kind.
Still, it is an excellent venue for manufacturers to introduce new products as crowd turnout is usually much better compared to those events organized by a single brand.
Small players can get in on the action
Smaller industry players like aftermarket and accessories shops could exhibit their products and take advantage of the high foot traffic brought on by big brands.
Somjin, a home-grown brand for motorcycle seat covers, had an opportunity to showcase its wares at a big venue.
Drives healthy competition
Since motorcycle manufacturers will have model launches and product exhibits alongside other brands, they will strive to compete with each other by offering more innovative products at better pricing.
It is a cutthroat industry as it is but let them have at it. Whenever brands fight for market supremacy, it’s always us, the buyers, that take the win.
