Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH), through Yamaha Riding Academy, recently held a special off-road riding certification program for their motorsports instructors.
The three-day training session was held to refine the off-road riding skills of YMPH staff and familiarize themselves with the different off-road motorcycles in the Yamaha line-up, particularly the XTZ125 and the WR155R.

On the third day, after receiving their certification, the instructors would apply what they’ve learned by conducting training for participants from YZone and Rev Zone shops (Yamaha dealerships).
The idea is to have sales staff that are knowledgeable and better equipped to handle customer queries on Yamaha off-road bikes.
The entire training and certification process was supervised by no less than Yuji Nakazawa of Yamaha Motor Company Japan. Nakazawa is no ordinary trainer, with accolades from Motocross and Snowmobile Championships from the late 90s to the early 2000s in competitions held in Japan and the United States.
The training course focused on Riding Posture, Perimeter, Start and Stop, Braking, Sitting and Standing, Slalom, Small Turn, Uphill, and Downhill. April King Mascardo, who placed third overall in the 2022 UB150 category of the ARRC, was in attendance on day 1. Motocross Champions Bornok Mangosong and Pia Gabriel were also participants in the program.
The YMPH motorsports personnel will continue skill-up training throughout the year to ensure they will always be equipped and confident in conducting training and organizing off-road riding activities.
