At Php 2.465M, Can the Toyota Fortuner Remain an Affordable SUV for the Masses?

With its six variants, you can choose the Fortuner suited for your lifestyle. Toyota has made it a habit to have multiple variants at varying prices and spec levels to address its customers' needs. To give you a basic idea of which Fortuner to pick, here is a simple guide of the six variants, their fundamental difference from the rest in engine and transmission, and their corresponding updated prices.

The top-of-the-line model is the LTD, which is offered in two variants, depending on the drivetrain. The 4x4 is priced at Php 2.465 million, while the 4x2 is at Php 2.305 million. These variants share the same engine as the Q variant, which is also a 4x2. All three are powered by a 2.8-liter  in-line 4-cylinder 16-valve DOHC turbodiesel engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This engine produces 204 ps and 500 Nm of torque. The 4x2 Q is priced at Php 2.043 million.

The following variants also share the same engine, but this time a 2.4-liter one. This intercooler turbodiesel produces about 150 ps and 400 Nm, which is not bad. Because of this difference in engine and some features with the LTDs and the Q, the price goes below two million pesos. The V variant starts at Php 1.879 million. Only the G variant has either a manual or automatic transmission. The G AT is at Php 1.762 million, while the G MT is priced at Php 1.671 million.

I hope you were able to catch up on the different variants. We have written numerous articles on highlights and specifications about the Fortuner, so be sure to check them out. Also, Toyota's distinct Platinum White Pearl Mica color does not come for free.  It would set you back a little by about PhP 10,000 to Php 15,000, depending on the variant, if you want your Fortuner in this color. And it's only available from the V trim and up, so no pearl white for the G variants.

All in all, the Fortuner is a reliable PPV that is a best-seller from Toyota. Call it brand loyalty or plain logic, but people who shop for PPVs most likely have the Fortuner on their shortlist. And it's not only the performance but also the reliability and the specs, aside from the looks obviously, that you are paying for.
