Oh to be a fly on the wall: TNGA-based Toyota Alphard rear and interior images leaked

In February 2023, rendered images of the next-generation Toyota Alphard (Specs | News) were posted online, showcasing a minivan with more futuristic styling and power.

Reports also indicated that this new TNGA-based Alphard would launch as early as May 2023. However, more information has come up with actual photos available for the vehicle.

Leaked footage from what appears to be a Toyota staff meeting in China has revealed images of the vehicle, albeit just for its rear and interior. And yes, it appears their mobile phones weren't sequestered for the event.

The images show the next-gen Alphard’s tailgate, which now has LED taillights similar to what is seen in the current version. Aside from this, the pictures also show part of its rear quarter panel with a new sleek body line that terminates towards the rear of the minivan.

The Alphard nameplate can also be positioned in the tailgate's center.

However, the footage from the event does not show the front of the TNGA-based Toyota Alphard, which we assume will retain a shield-looking design from its previous iterations.

Other leaked images also reveal the interior of the Alphard, which appears to be more modern and similar in layout to the 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser.

At the dashboard's center is a wide floating touchscreen infotainment system speculated to be around 14 inches.

Down on the center console, the new Alphard appears to be using a new lever-style gear shifter with a layout similar to the all-new Toyota Prius or Toyota Crown

The leaked video also showcases the new digital display of the next-generation minivan, with the steering wheel appearing void of any physical buttons. It instead gets touch-sensitive controls similar to what is found in other luxury vehicles.

However, some traditional controls like dials are still in the vehicle for air conditioning controls.

For its seating, the new Toyota Alphard gets a pair of captain’s chairs covered in brown leather with power functions for each. Whether these seats will be available in other materials or color options has yet to be determined.

The captain’s seats also get touch controls which handle the air conditioning operation at the back and power adjustability. The video indicates that heating and ventilation will be available for the second row.

Finally, the video and images show that the new Alphard will be getting individual moonroofs similar to what is available in the Philippine spec Peugeot Traveller (Specs | News) Premium.

The next-generation Toyota Alphard is built on the TNGA-K platform, with a debut set in May for the Japanese market. Reports have indicated it will launch with a turbocharged gasoline engine and Toyota’s Dynamic Force hybrid powertrains.

Given this can be one pricey people-carrier, will the all-new Toyota Alphard be on your shopping list?
