Daihatsu Terios gets a facelift; will the Toyota Rush get it next?

The Daihatsu Terios, or the Toyota Rush in the Philippines, has recently been updated in Indonesia. The update gives the vehicle a new front fascia and other new features.

The Toyota Rush is a long-time 7-seater SUV model in the Philippines that has yet to receive an update, unlike its siblings, the Toyota Avanza and Toyota Veloz. But since it has received an update in Indonesia, they will likely make their way into the local market.

So what are the upgrades?

The facelifted Terios gets a new front end with a more aggressive SUV-like design, starting with the exterior. These changes begin with a new front bumper that gives the front fascia a more angular look and new housings for its foglights. Aside from this, the SUV gets a new pair of grilles and a new set of headlights that come with a ‘smoked’ look.

The Terios also gets a new set of 17-inch wheels, which change in design depending on the variant.

At the rear, the car gets a new bumper with thicker cladding, chrome, and reflectors.

Any interior updates?

On the inside, the Daihatsu Terios retains the same overall cabin layout as the previous model, but depending on the trim level, you get a few updates.

Leather combination seats and soft pads on the dashboard and door panels are now available for the SUV.

Technology updates have also come to the new Terios, as it gets a wireless charger and a surround-view monitor. Its instrument cluster has also been changed with a more comprehensive multi-information display.

Any power changes?

Under the hood, the Daihatsu Terios is still powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine paired with a four-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.

However, new stop-start technology has been added to the SUV to help users get better fuel economy while in traffic.

Will it be coming to the Philippines?

It's hard to determine if the changes to the Terios will be made to the local Toyota Rush. Introducing the Toyota Veloz ate a bit into its market, offering more technology and power.

That said, it's still up to Toyota Philippines to make that call, as they can give the SUV one last facelift before removing it from the local lineup.

What do you think of the changes to the Daihatsu Terios? Should they do the same for the Toyota Rush?
