Chery Philippines is set to bring a sub-brand into the country as an Exeed Yaoguang has been spotted being transported on a flatbed truck.
For those who don’t know, Exeed is the premium sub-brand of the automaker, and the Yaoguang is a mid-size crossover.
It is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 265 PS and 400 Nm of torque. Depending on the variant entering the Philippines, it could come with a seven-speed wet-type dual-clutch automatic gearbox or an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Based on photos from our sister publication, Wapcar.my, it has two 12.3-inch screens housing the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment system.
Aside from this, the crossover also gets a panoramic sunroof and a 14-Sony Speaker sound system. The Yaoguang has luxury features like seat ventilation and a built-in headrest audio system.
The Exeed crossover also packs some serious technology, offering level 2.5 driving assistance that lets the car almost drive itself.
Who will distribute Exeed in the Philippines?
As it is a sub-brand of Chery, the question now arises, will Exeed be under the distributorship of a different company, like what happened with Jetour Philippines, or will it still be under the United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI)?
From the looks of it, Exeed will be connected to UAAGI, as the flatbed truck carrying the vehicle had the company’s name on it.
The Exeed Yaoguang could be positioned above the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro as a more premium offering. It will also help the company avoid any overlaps regarding the market position of these two vehicles.
There is no word yet if Chery Philippines will change the name of the Yaoguang to fit the local market or if it will retain it to keep things simple.
It remains to be determined if Chery Philippines will unveil the Exeed brand at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show. For that, we will have to find around and find out at the show itself.
