Chery is returning to Philippines after a short hiatus. Here's what you need to know about Chery before they return here. Also, we will do a follow-up post regarding the models that are slated to arrive here.
2021 witnessed a number of ups and downs in the global automotive scene. Despite that, Chery continued to maintain the strongest growth rate in China’s automotive industry.
Last year, Chery sold 961,926 cars, a year-on-year increase of 31.7 percent. Out of which, 269,154 units were exported, a year-on-year increase of 136.3 percent, effectively putting Chery as the top exporter of Chinese passenger vehicles for 19 consecutive years. So far, Chery already has a global user base of over 10 million, including 1.95 million users outside China.
The popularity of Chery in global markets is credited to the launch of its Pro family models. The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro has won several accolades in Russia, including “The Most Popular Chinese SUV”, “The Most Technological SUV”, and “The Media’s Favourite Medium-sized SUV”.
But that’s not all – it took less than 6 months for the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro shoot up to the top spot in Qatar, winning the best-selling SUV award in the process. In Brazil, the hot-selling model Arrizo 6 Pro was selected as "The Best Car" by an authoritative media company in Brazil.
Chery’s ability to maintain high growth in overseas markets for almost 20 years mainly depends on three aspects: technology, quality, and culture.
In 2021, the Chery 2.0T engine was selected as one of the “Chinese Heart” Top Ten Engine of 2021. Since 2006, when the “Chinese Heart” selection of top ten engines was launched, 9 Chery engines, including their 1.6T GDI and 2.0T GDI have been selected.
Based on its deep technological accumulation of ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles, Chery has also released the "Chery 4.0 Global Power Architecture", which includes various energy forms such as fuel, hybrid, battery, and hydrogen power, to meet the demands of users for all scenarios of mobility.
Chery always regards quality as its life and strives to make vehicles safer and more reliable, which is the basis for winning the trust of users around the world. Chery conducts vehicle tests all the year round in many countries around the world, such as Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Russia, etc.
The test contents cover extreme working conditions such as extreme high and low temperatures, and meet all-weather test standards in different regions. Chery develops products according to international standards and high quality, and has established a globally unified production management system, the CPS (Chery Production Mode), which effectively guarantees the product quality.
In addition, Chery adopts parts provided by top suppliers of the world, and maintains close cooperation with first-class foreign suppliers such as Bosch, Continental, Siemens, etc., so as to ensure the quality and assembly standards of each part, and continuously improve its competitiveness in the global market.
Mature technology and reliable quality make Chery Automobile conquer overseas consumers step by step. In November, 2021, in the final selection of the 46th International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC), it competed fiercely with 904 teams from all over the world, and finally won the gold medal, the highest prize of the conference. This is the fifth time that Chery has won the highest honor at the international "Olympics" of quality for the "Chinese Team".
Chery is expected to return to Philippines later this year. We can expect a range of models from Chery, including an EV, as well as several SUVs.
