On March 22, 2023, Chevrolet announced that it would be ending the production of the Chevrolet Camaro, its famous muscle car, by January 2024.
The model name will not be axed, but the American carmaker has not yet officially announced an immediate replacement for the vehicle.
But before the Camaro goes away, the "golden bowtie" brand has one more swan song for the old muscle car in the Japanese market.
Chevrolet has released a limited edition model, with just 20 units. These models carry the Vivid Orange color that is available in the United States, but was never offered before in the "Land of the Rising Sun."
More than just a 'new' color
Aside from the new color, the model also comes with a silver stripe that runs from the vehicle's hood to its trunk lid.
The interior has also been updated with jet-black upholstery and Recaro performance seats.
Under the hood, the Vivid Orange Edition has the same 6.2-liter V8 gasoline engine found in the SS variant. It produces 447 horsepower and 617 Nm of torque, which is 8 horsepower less than what is available in the U.S.
Chevrolet Japan has already started accepting orders for the Vivid Orange Edition Camaro, which will be displayed at the Chevrolet Fan Day at Fuji Speedway on May 20, 2023.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in mid-June.
Special artwork
From June 3 and 4, customers who test drive the vehicle can expect to be given a piece of art by Number-D depicting the American muscle car.
Number-D is a Tokyo-based artist with street art roots known for his colorful modern works. He has several other collaborations with brands like G-Shock and Sony, each displaying his unique graffiti art style.
Is the limited edition Chevrolet Camaro Vivid Orange Edition worth it?
