It will carry the brand’s new premium styling with LED headlights, LED taillights and an angular design for its massive front grille.
The 4x4 variant still comes with 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 255/50 series tires. Like the GT 2WD model, the 4x4 model retains its double chrome exhaust pipes, panoramic sunroof, power tailgate and soundproof glass for the front passengers.
Premium interior and technology
The new 4x4 variant will likely have the same interior as the standard model, sharing its black-themed interior, quilted leather power seats and crystal shift knob.
It will also carry over its tri-zone automatic air conditioning system, air quality sensor and paddle shifters.
The new model gets the massive 14.6-inch infotainment system and the 7-inch LCD instrument cluster found in the standard 2WD model. It will also retain a wireless phone charger and an 8-speaker sound system.
Depending on how GAC Motor Philippines specifies the new model, it may come with an Alpine sound system.
The new model will retain advanced features like a high-definition (HD) surround-vision parking system.
Same 2.0-liter turbo power
Under the hood, the 4x4 model will still be powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 251 PS and 400 Nm of torque.
It sends power to all four wheels via an 8-speed Aisin automatic transmission. But unlike the 4x2 model, it will get a more extensive set of drive modes, which now include Sand, Mud and Snow.
Given that the 4x4 GS8 is now heavier thanks to the additional weight of components, expect its fuel economy to decrease to around 12 km/l.
That estimation comes from the GAC Motor website, but real-world testing may reveal different fuel economy numbers.
Safety
Regarding safety features, the new model will likely see minor updates to its kit, such as adding a knee airbag.
However, other features from the 2WD model will remain, such as ABS with EBD and the suite of advanced driver assist features. These include lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.
The question now is, what about pricing? If it indeed is the GS8 4x4 model, we are looking at the ₱2.5 million to ₱2.7 million range to account for the additional equipment.
