Pinoy moto fans have always lusted after Thai motorcycle models that are yet to be launched on Philippine shores.
However, we must accept that there are bike models that are just intended for the Thai market will likely never see the light of day in the Philippines.
The same could be said about the limited-edition Captain America and Iron Man-inspired ADV160 that Honda Thailand will be unveiling at the Bangkok Motor Show next week.
They will only be producing 3,000 units of these for the Thai market and given the ADV160’s popularity, they’ll probably be sold out the minute units become available.
Yet, do not despair. Under the superhero costume is the same 157 cc, liquid-cooled, 4-valve eSP+ engine, so there’s really nothing special about them other than the exterior panels.
We have an abundance of talent in our local custom scene and I’m sure you can easily have your ADV160 made into an exact replica. That is, of course, if you are fortunate enough to get a unit in the first place.
The Honda ADV160 has been in high demand since its local debut late last year and with good reason. It is packed with tech features that are rarely found on scooters in its category.
Aside from having ABS as standard, the ADV160 also has Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), which prevents the slipping of the rear tire during hard acceleration especially on low-traction surfaces.
The ADV160 is able to achieve 45 kilometers per liter, thanks to its Idling Stop System (ISS). It is also equipped with keyless operation system to enable the rider to fully operate the unit using only a control knob. You get all that and more at a price tag of ₱164,900.
Hmm…maybe Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI) should release a limited-edition Captain Barbell and Darna inspired ADV160s. What do you think?
