Will the Philippines get it? All-new Toyota C-HR teased, debuts June 26

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is on a roll, with several new models in the pipeline for 2023.

From the upcoming Toyota Innova to the new Toyota Yaris Cross, which both come with hybrid drivetrains, the Japanese carmaker seems hell-bent on cementing its position as the Philippines' number-one car manufacturer.

It may get a further boost if it decides to bring in the all-new Toyota C-HR, which is due to debut globally on June 26, 2023.

Radical styling

The C-HR has long had fans in the Philippines for its wild styling, deviating from the more conservative shapes of Toyota crossovers.

Toyota has posted a teaser of the upcoming model, featuring full-length LED taillights that also light up in the model name in bright red.

The next C-HR is likely to take styling cues from the C-HR Prologue concept car that debuted on December 2022.

This concept model features even more extreme styling, with a steeply raked rear windshield dictating the coupe-like profile of the crossover. The dramatic, three-tone paintjob that combines silver, black and yellow gives the car a more youthful appearance.

Up front, the C-HR Prologue gets C-shaped LED headlights similar to the latest Toyota Prius. These lead down to a huge lower grill with contrasting colors.

Battery EV possible

Toyota previously disclosed that the upcoming C-HR will be available in hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, according to our friends from WapCar.

There is also a possibility that the new C-HR could get a battery-electric version, given Toyota’s push to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) development and introduce 10 new EV models by 2026.

The Japanese carmaker, which had long been reluctant to invest heavily in EV production, is playing catch up with the rest of the world. It plans to roll out solid-state EV batteries by 2027 that promise longer ranges and shorter charging times.

Do you think the all-new Toyota C-HR would be a hit if it were sold in the Philippines?
