Next-generation Toyota Tamaraw serves as pace car for Toyota GAZOO Racing Vios Cup Leg 2

The Toyota Tamaraw will be the official pace car for the second leg of the Toyota GAZOO Racing Vios Cup.

The Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) Vios Cup is back for more heart-pounding racing with Leg 2 on Sept. 9 to 10, 2023 at the Clark International Speedway (CIS) in Pampanga.

The racing event is open to the public and admission is free. Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) said in a September 2023 press statement that it welcomes race fans to immerse in this exciting celebration of fast cars and inspiring racing. 

The racing action will begin at 9:30 a.m. for those attending the event in person. TMP will also live stream the event via its TGR Philippines Facebook page.

The Toyota GR lineup of vehicles will also be at the event, including the Toyota GR Supra and the Toyota GR Yaris.

The next-generation Toyota Tamaraw will also be on track as the pace car for the Circuit Championship.

Meanwhile, the Toyota Altis GR-S HEV race car will excite this adrenaline-pumping weekend as it joins the Circuit Championship and Autocross Challenge.

Vios Cup Leg 1: A quick look back

The TGR Vios Cup’s first leg concluded with exhilarating moments.

Jarond Mesina and Ian Rosales of Team Toyota Cebu headlined the Circuit Championship races in the Promotional and Super Sporting classes, respectively. 

Meanwhile, veteran kart champion Bern Corpino of Toyota Balintawak Inc. – Obengers Racing Team claimed the first spot on the podium for Sporting Class.

In the Vios Autocross Challenge, Pattice Tenorio of Zigwheels, a Vios Cup rookie, won the Media Promotional Class, while Siegwald Go of C! Magazine took first place in the Media Sporting Class.

The Promotional Influencer Class delivered an amazing all-female podium finish, with Bianca Yao in the number one spot, followed by Arianne Bautista and Apple David in the second and third, respectively.

Lastly, Miguel Romulo clinched the Sporting Influencer Class championship of the Autocross Challenge. 

Vios Cup Leg 2: What to expect

Like the previous leg, expect more close wheel-to-wheel action for the Circuit Championship category.

In contrast, expect to see new and familiar faces race against the clock in the Autocross Challenge to get the fastest time.

This season’s Circuit Championship and Autocross Challenge features professional and beginner racers, celebrities, influencers and people in the media industry, namely: 

  • Troy Montero – Circuit Championship Sporting Class
  • Ryan Agoncillo – Circuit Championship Promotional Class
  • Enzo Pineda – Circuit Championship Promotional Class 

Meanwhile, online stars Macoy Dubs, Genesis Redido, cyclist Ezra Domingo and sportscaster Apple David will also return to showcase their racing skills. 

Vios Cup Autocross racers Reph Bangsil and Arianne Bautista are maneuvering back into the racetrack, while beauty queens Carla Lizardo and Megan Young, who both join the Autocross lineup, are adding to this weekend's fun.

Fueling the amazing roster is seasoned Autocross champ Miguel Romulo, while crowd favorites Benedict Cua, Bianca Yao and Lexi Mendiola round out the incredible bunch for this year.
