While the Japanese brand likes to keep its upcoming models quiet, now and then, a leak comes along revealing the automaker’s plans.
A car spotter named Ef Labajo was able to take a picture of Toyota’s possible next model – the 2024 Toyota Alphard. AutoFun Philippines obtained permission to use his photo.
The luxury minivan was spotted somewhere in the Southern Luzon region.
Given the structure in the picture and the fencing around it, we can deduce that the photo was probably taken in the Batangas port area, which is a major hub for vehicles imported into the Philippines, or somewhere in the brand’s local facility.
The new front fascia of the Alphard is a dead giveaway, as it can easily be seen through the fencing.
The new luxury minivan has a much broader nose with sleek LED headlights near the hood, a massive grill in the middle and a sculpted front bumper with new foglight bezels.
However, the grill of the Alphard in the photo taken by the spotter looks a bit different compared to what is available on the brand’s Japanese website, as its pattern is more akin to the sportier Toyota Velfire.
It's possible that TMP has changed the grill for the local market.
All-new floorplan, engine
As a quick recap, the all-new Toyota Alphard rides on the brand’s TNGA-K platform that it shares with its sibling, the Lexus LM.
The new chassis offers greater stability and comfort, befitting its luxury minivan status.
While the official local specifications have yet to be determined, we can assume that the new Alphard will have similar powerplant options to what is available in Japan.
As such, it may have a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine that can be paired with a hybrid system for increased power and fuel economy. This means goodbye to the smooth and powerful V6 gasoline engine that still powers older versions of the Alphard.
TMP has yet to release any information about the upcoming Alphard. But since there is a unit already in the country, the launch of the all-new luxury minivan could happen within the next two months.
What do you think of the all-new Alphard?
