The 2024 Chevrolet Trax has officially launched in the Philippine market, bringing new looks, larger dimensions, a new 137PS, 220Nm 1.2-liter turbo engine, and more features.

However, the crossover SUV has also significantly increased in pricing as it now starts at ₱1,793,888 for the entry-level model, with the top-spec variant priced at ₱1.948,888.

With that in mind, we have created a list of more affordable alternatives to the Trax. For the list, we will focus on the pricing, but we will still stick to crossovers SUVs to keep things fair. The list is in no particular order.

Ford Territory (₱1,335,000 – ₱1,599,000)

First, the Ford Territory is a great alternative to the Chevrolet Trax. It has roughly the same dimensions as its Golden Bowtie brand rival but with a much larger and more powerful 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. It pushes out 160 PS and 248 Nm of torque, 23PS and 28 Nm more than the Trax can offer.

On top of this, the Blue Oval SUV has similar features, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with its suite of advanced safety features.

Honda HR-V (₱1,389,000 – ₱1,759,000)

The Honda HR-V is another excellent option for a Japanese alternative to the Chevrolet Trax. It comes in two flavors with the brand’s Honda Sensing safety features.

The naturally aspirated 1.5-liter model produces 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque, while the turbo models have 177PS and 240 Nm. While the naturally aspirated engine doesn’t match the Trax’s power output, the turbocharged variants go above and beyond its power figures. 

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard for all variants of the Honda HR-V. 

Hyundai Tucson (₱1,570,000 – ₱1,840,000)

Switching things up, we have the Hyundai Tucson. Like the HR-V, it is available with two engines. The first is a 2.0-liter gasoline engine that produces 156 PS and 192 Nm of torque, while the other is a 2.0-liter turbo diesel that produces 186PS and 416 Nm of torque.

However, unlike the Trax, the Tucson doesn’t have advanced driver aids such as adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. It does come with standard features such as ABS with EBD, six airbags, and a reverse camera.

The Tucson is a great alternative for those who want turbo diesel power for less than the price of the Chevrolet Trax. Like the other crossovers on this list, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard for the Hyundai Tucson.

Toyota Corolla Cross (₱1,312,000 – ₱1,844,000)

If you want to try out hybrid technology, Toyota is here to answer the call with the Corolla Cross. Like the other crossovers on this list, it is available with two engine options. The first is a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter gasoline engine, while the second is a 1.8-liter hybrid drivetrain.

The 1.8-liter naturally aspirated motor produces 140 PS and 172 Nm of torque, while the hybrid drivetrain produces 122 PS and 142 Nm of torque. Something to note is that Toyota hasn’t released the total torque output of the hybrid model, but we assume it should be around 220 Nm.

The Corolla Cross is an excellent alternative to the Trax, especially for those who want a more fuel-efficient vehicle. It also helps that the crossover has the Toyota Safety Sense suite of features that give it advanced driver aids. It also has access to standard features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 

GWM Haval H6 HEV (₱1,788,000 – ₱1,883,000)

Another hybrid alternative to the Trax is the GWM Haval H6 HEV. Unlike the Corolla Cross, this crossover packs a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine mated to a dedicated hybrid transmission.  It produces 240 PS and 530 Nm of torque for its combined output, nearly doubling the power output of the Chevrolet Trax.

Like its Chevrolet rival, the H6 also has access to advanced driver aids such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and emergency braking. It even has a bigger infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
