Isuzu is renowned for manufacturing among the finest diesel engines in the world.
But the Japanese carmaker is not just busy making diesels. It is also helping learning institutions teach their students about repairing and maintaining diesels.
Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) announced in an August 2023 press statement that it has renewed its partnership with the Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial School of Arts & Trade (JZGMSAT) in Binan, Laguna.
This is a technical-vocational school managed by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. It offers a specialized training program covering topics like Diesel Engine Technology, Common Rail Fuel System and Engine Management System.
“It’s been six years since we started this partnership, and the continuous collaboration between IPC and JZGMSAT says a lot about the importance and sustainability of this program,” said IPC president Tetsuya Fujita.
“More than the equipment we provided, it’s the culture of knowledge sharing that’s more important, for us to be able to share with them our expertise on Diesel Engine Technology, so the trainees can have more advantage when they graduate,” he added.
Training car, new lifter
Aside from renewing the partnership, IPC also donated a used Isuzu D-MAX and a four-post lifter with a wheel aligner.
The tie-up with JZGMSAT started in 2017, with IPC previously donating desktop computers, mock-up diesel engines and two automotive lifters. The company said these are still being used by the school’s service mechanic trainees during their practical classes.
“We are very thankful to Isuzu Philippines for their continuous support to our vocational school,” said JZGMSAT Vocational School Administrator Benito Reyes.
“The equipment and technical training that they provide to us are all very beneficial in improving the competency of our trainees,” he added. “This will truly help them in their practical classes and prepare them for real-world scenarios.”
Over the years, IPC has conducted several CSR activities nationwide. But the company said this particular project is close to its heart.
“We truly believe in the power of education, this is something we can give to the younger generation and hope that it will be able to change their lives in the future,” Fujita said.
Who better than Isuzu to teach the next generation of mechanics about proper diesel repair?
