The Toyota Camry has been around for 40 years now, catering to the needs of upper-class people, and providing premium comfort, performance, safety, and tech features. But 2022 has gotten better for the Camry as it is now powered with a hybrid system that focuses on fuel economy, regeneration, and sustainability. Its Japanese automaker Toyota is looking forward to a more promising performance from the Camry this year.
Price and Colors
Unlike before, the 2022 Toyota Camry is now only available in a hybrid variant – the Toyota Camry Hybrid 2.5 HEV. It comes with a Php2,335,000 price tag in the local automotive market and is available in seven premium colors. It comes in Attitude Black Mica, Graphite Metallic, Burning Black Crystal Shine GF, Red Mica, Phantom Brown Metallic, Platinum White Pearl Mica, and Thermalyte color options.
Performance
Under the hood of the 2022 Toyota Camry is the same engine as the outgoing model. The only difference is that it is now accompanied by a hybrid system. The Camry carries a 2.5-liter 2AR-FE Inline-4 gasoline-powered engine that produces 181 horses and 231 Nm of torque output with the help of the hybrid system, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission in a front-wheel-drive configuration. For the suspension, the Camry comes with a MacPherson strut with stabilizers upfront and a double-wishbone with stabilizers at the rear. On the other hand, it uses ventilated discs and solid discs for the front and rear brakes.
Exterior
For some people, they find the look of the Camry very serious and boring, but the all-new 2022 Camry Hybrid presents itself with a sophisticated and dynamic appeal. Upfront, the Toyota logo noticeably comes with a blue hue, which signifies that it is a hybrid automobile. The front clip also features a massive black radiator vent grille with chrome side accents, which complements the sharp-looking LED headlamps with daytime running lights. Aside from that, the shape of the hood that tapers down the front clip gives a stylish and sophisticated appeal to the Camry.
On the side, its 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels give an impression that this car has a sharp performance. What's prominent are the character lines on both sides of the car, plus the chrome accents on the door handles and windows. At the back, the rear profile of the Camry gives a demure Supra feel because of the cuts. The taillights are also new and modern, paired with the third brake light up front. Under the tailgate are a 400-liter cargo space capacity and a false floor for the spare tire.
Interior
Getting in this premium sedan, you would feel that it is like a business class experience on the road. The style design is sophisticated and classy, which you can see on the dashboard panel, steering wheel, and seats. Almost everything is covered with premium leather with satin and chrome accents. There are also some piano black parts but are just minimal. It has a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and a 9-speaker JBL sound system. Behind the steering wheel is a colored TFT instrument cluster that shows the meters and the hybrid system. The seats are power-adjustable upfront and at the back, with controls that are found on the rear armrest. Aside from that, the controller also allows the rear passengers to control the shades and the air-con temperature.
Safety and Security
When it comes to safety, Toyota Camry Hybrid is one of the most reliable in the category with a 91.47 overall score from ASEAN NCAP. On top of the standard safety and security features, it is also equipped with Toyota Safety Sense which includes lane tracing assist, blind spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, dynamic radar cruise control, and many more.
